Demand for NAND Flash Memory for
Handsets Results in its Share of Market Doubling in Size Since
Last Year and Now Makes Up the Biggest Share of NAND Market,

Handsets will continue to serve as the key sales
driver for NAND flash in 2008 and account for almost 40% of NAND
flash capacity, thanks to growing adoption of small-form factor
memory cards. Digital media players and digital cameras will be
the two key applications after handset in terms of NAND flash,
said inSpectrum.
Among all applications, handsets is the only
segment that will see positive demand growth throughout the
year, inSpectrum noted.
inSpectrum observes that the mainstream memory
density for digital music players has risen to 4GB, whereas the
mainstream density in USB drives is 2.8-3.3GB. The firm noted
that memory cards will not grow memory density demand critically
in 2008, but instead, growth will appear in the form of
shipments volume.
